The correlation between language, society and culture has been studied for a long time in linguistics. In the XX century the necessity of studying language together with extralinguistic factors has risen.

During the last decade a new linguistic and cultural phenomenon ‘political correctness’ has appeared in the world, especially in the English-speaking countries.
