Benefits of Electronic Learning versus Traditional Classroom Settings

Electronic learning (or e-Learning or eLearning) is a type of Technology supported education/learning where the medium of instruction is through computer technology, particularly involving digital technologies. E-learning has been defined as pedagogy empowered by digital technology.

Electronic Learning can provide for major benefits for the organizations and individuals involved.

1. Reducing environmental impact: eLearning allows people to avoid travel, thus reducing the overall carbon output. The fact that it takes place in a virtual environment also allows some reduction of paper usage. With virtual notes instead of paper notes and online assessments instead of paper assessments, eLearning is a more environmentally friendly solution. More here

Hi Irene,
I’m really interested in new types of distance learning and find this one quite effective. Nowadays the Internet is quite popular all over the world, it opens new possibilities and help people to cooperate no matter in what part of the world they live. So, why not use modern technologies such as the Internet in education? I consider Elerning to be full-fledged learning as it provides students with developing skills and gaining knowledge. Using the Internet, microphones and web cameras any student may easily study this way. But still, from my point of view, the most effective way of studying is combination of traditional education and Elearning.
What do you think of this Ira?

thank you for such an interesting point of view and approach to the problem of E-learning. but i suppose, that reducing environmental impact is out of the topic. i would like to read more about advantages and disadvantages of methods of e-learning in a classroom, as there can't be only advantages of it.

I like this topic of discussion very much as it is rather relevant nowadays. And it is very important for people who have some problems of health, lack of ability to move. They can study and learn some interesting things online. And it is also useful for busy people.
