Teaching English to children of differing abilities within one class

My school and I

Hello! I am Richard Ireland, head of the English department for the Harm Jan Zondag Junior College (in Groningen, Holland).

Our school caters mainly for the lower-school age group (12-15 yrs). My own tutor-group will be with us until they take their end-of-secondary-school-exams at between 16 and 17 years of age.

In all our school has between 12 and 14 classes ranging across the whole spectrum of regular-school ability levels.

Havo+

I joint-tutor a ‘Havo+’ pilot scheme within our school. A colleague and I tutor a group of 20 highly intelligent teenagers, most of whom have ASD [autistic spectrum disorder] problems and/or ADHD [Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder]. more here
